How do I tell my parents I want to quit violin lessons?
I don’t want to quit playing – I’ll still be in orchestra, but I just want to quit my lessons. Lately I have no motivation to practice at all, and when Saturday morning rolls around I just sit on my bed and dread the minute my teacher pulls into the driveway. My mom did take me to the doctor yesterday and he thinks I have some ADD and depression which could possibly be playing a big part in this, but I am really just unhappy with my lessons. I hate myself for feeling this way though, and I know I will feel bad if I do quit, especially since I have such a great teacher. I talked to my mom this morning and she said it is too late to cancel today’s lessons and so she wants me to ask my teacher for a break after wards, but I am still nervous. I know they have spent a lot of money on lessons and my new violin that I got last year, and they will probably try to make me feel guilty…
