How much to charge for private violin lessons?
I’m a sophomore in college looking to make a little more money. I’m very proficient on the violin; in fact, it was going to be my major (but everyone changes their major!). I have been playing for nine years, I’ve been first chair in my high school orchestras, I performed and traveled with the Utah Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra for four years, and I studied music abroad in the UK for a year.
My question is, what is a reasonable price to charge for private lessons? I’m not a professional nor am I going to become one (it’s no longer my major) but I am very qualified…
I would be teaching pretty much anything musically the student required (technique, sheet music, music theory, etc) and I would be taking on students from beginning to upper intermediate.
I’ve heard several different quotes from people, here are a few that I can’t decide between:
a month (four half hour lessons/equals out to per lesson)
a month (four half hour lessons/equals out to per lesson)
a month (four half hour lessons/equals out to per lesson)
What do you all think and why?
